Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about Cadence.

Is my financial data secure?

Yes. Cadence uses bank-level encryption to protect your data. Bank connections are handled through Plaid, a trusted third-party provider used by thousands of financial apps. Your login credentials are never stored by Cadence. See the Security article for more details on two-factor authentication and other protections.

What happens when my free trial ends?

After your 14-day trial, you'll need to choose a plan to continue using Cadence. Your data is preserved whether you subscribe immediately or come back later. No payment information is required during the trial. See Account & Subscription for plan details.

Can I use Cadence without connecting a bank account?

Absolutely. You can use Cadence entirely with manual transaction entry and manual account balances. Bank syncing is optional and available on Cadence+ and Premium plans. Many users prefer the manual approach for greater control.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings → Data & Privacy → Export Data. You can download your financial data at any time. See the Privacy & Data Management article for details.

Why don't my transactions match my bank exactly?

Synced transactions can take a few hours to appear, and pending transactions may take 1–3 business days. If transactions are missing after 24 hours, see Troubleshooting Connections for troubleshooting steps.

Can I track accounts in different currencies?

Cadence supports setting a default currency in Settings → Personalization. All amounts are displayed in your chosen currency.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → Account → Subscription → Cancel Subscription. Your access continues until the end of your billing period. See Account & Subscription for full details.

What's the difference between categories and budgets?

Categories describe what a transaction is (like “Food and Drink”), while budgets describe where you're tracking the spending (like “Groceries”). See the Categories article for a full explanation.
