Push Notifications

The Push Notifications toggle at the top of the screen is what lets Cadence reach you when the app is closed. Without it, alerts wait in the app until you next open it.

Four kinds of alert are delivered this way:

  1. New transactions arriving from your banks.
  2. Bank connection problems.
  3. Money activity, such as an upcoming bill or a credit-utilisation warning.
  4. Insights about your progress.

Security alerts are sent by email rather than push, which is deliberate: an email leaves a record you still have if you lose the device.

Timing, and Why It Is Quiet

Timing is deliberately restrained. Reminders and insights go out in the morning, with insights also getting an early-evening send, and everything is scheduled in your own timezone rather than a server one.

Insight notifications are capped at three a day

They are grouped by topic, and only genuinely important ones are eligible. A busy day of activity cannot turn into a stream of buzzes, which is why enabling insights is safer than it sounds.

Turning Push On

On iPhone and Android, switching the toggle on asks for the system permission. Two cases need a detour:

  1. If you previously denied it, the row says it is blocked. Re-enable notifications for Cadence in your device settings first, then come back.
  2. On iPhone using Safari rather than the app, you have to add Cadence to your home screen before push can be enabled at all. That is an iOS restriction on web push.

Email Notifications

Cadence has a single Email Notifications toggle that sends emails for all of your enabled alerts at once. There are no separate email toggles per category: turning it on emails everything you have enabled, and turning it off stops emails entirely.

So to choose which alerts you get by email, use the per-category switches above. The universal email toggle then applies to whichever categories you leave enabled.

Adjusting Your Preferences

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications.
  2. Turn Push Notifications on if you want alerts while the app is closed.
  3. Enable or disable each category.
  4. Use the Email Notifications toggle to turn emails on or off for all enabled categories.

Changes take effect immediately.

Good to Know

Good to know

Even with email notifications off, you will still see insight cards and bill reminders inside the app. Email is an additional channel, not a replacement, so switching it off never hides anything from you in Cadence itself.

Communication Preferences - product news, marketing, research invitations - are a separate thing, under Settings → Account.
