Your key numbers on your phone's home screen, without opening the app.

The Four Widgets

These are separate from the in-app dashboard widgets you arrange inside Cadence Money.
Left to Spend counts your rollover and Goal Fund credits
The ceiling it measures against is not simply the sum of your budget amounts. It is that sum plus anything carried into this period - unspent room rolled over from last month, and credits from a Goal Fund - because that is the amount you can actually spend. So the figure can be higher than the plain budget total you see elsewhere, and that is the widget being right rather than out of step. On WorryFree it does the same thing with your single limit and its carryover.
Adding a Widget
Widgets are added through your phone’s normal widget picker:
- iPhone - touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, tap the + in the corner, search for Cadence, choose a widget and size, then tap Add Widget.
- Android - touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen, tap Widgets, find Cadence, then drag the one you want onto your Home screen.
Setting Them Up
There is no widget setting to switch on. Open Cadence Money and sign in, and pass two-factor authentication if you use it. Cadence Money links your widgets to your account securely and automatically, and they start showing real data within a few minutes.
Until that happens, a widget shows a prompt to open Cadence and sign in to set up widgets. You may also see a short hint when there is nothing to show yet, such as before you have set up budgets or added accounts.
What unlinks your widgets
Letting a session simply expire keeps them working. Three things do unlink them, all deliberately: an explicit sign out, changing your password, and turning two-factor authentication on or off (including enabling Face ID or Touch ID, which enrols a factor). Widgets hold their own access key, and anything that changes how you prove who you are cancels it on the server - which is the point on a shared, lost or sold device.
Nothing is broken when that happens. Open Cadence Money and sign in, and a fresh key is issued and your widgets fill back in within a few minutes. Until you do, they fall back to the last figures they managed to fetch.
A widget’s access key also expires on its own after 60 days. Opening Cadence Money at any point in the last 30 days of that renews it, so ordinary use keeps widgets alive without you thinking about it. If you have not opened the app in a couple of months, a blank widget is usually this rather than a fault - launch it once and they come back.
Sizes & Options
On iOS, Left to Spend and Net Worth come in small and medium sizes, while Recent Activity and Upcoming Activity are medium. On Android, every widget can be resized on your Home screen.
The Net Worth widget covers a time range, and only one platform lets you choose it:
- iPhone - touch and hold the widget, tap Edit Widget, then pick a Time Range from 1M, 3M, 6M, Year to date, 1Y, 5Y or All.
- Android - the range is fixed to Year to date. There is no picker, and the widget is not tappable to change it.
How Often They Update
Widgets refresh on their own roughly every 30 minutes, and update right away whenever you open the Cadence Money app. Your phone’s operating system controls the exact timing, so it can vary.
The Net Worth figure is based on your latest daily snapshot, so it may be up to a day behind the live number in the app. That is expected rather than a sync problem.
Privacy on Your Home Screen
A home-screen widget shows your numbers to anyone who can see your screen. On iPhone, Cadence Money marks these amounts as sensitive, so they follow iOS’s setting for hiding sensitive widget content - on the Lock Screen, for example.
Privacy Mode does not reach your widgets
The in-app Privacy Mode blur applies inside the app only. If you would rather not show balances at all, add only the Recent Activity or Upcoming Activity widget, or skip widgets entirely.
