Connect an AI Assistant (MCP)

Give Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini secure, read-only access to your Cadence data through MCP.

What This Does

Cadence offers an official MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, which lets an AI assistant read your financial data so you can ask it questions in plain language — things like how your spending compares to last month, or how close you are to a savings goal. Access is strictly read-only: an assistant can look at your data, but it can never add, change, or delete anything in your account.

Supported Assistants

You can connect Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. Each connects using the same secure sign-in.

How to Connect

You connect from your AI assistant, not from inside Cadence. The exact wording varies by assistant, but the steps are the same:

  1. In your assistant, open its connectors or integrations settings and choose to add a custom MCP server.
  2. Enter the Cadence server address: https://my.cadencemoney.com/mcp
  3. Your assistant opens a Cadence sign-in page. Sign in and review the access you are granting.
  4. Approve, and you are returned to your assistant, now connected. You never copy or paste any keys or tokens.

What Your Assistant Can See

Once connected, an assistant can read the same kinds of information you see in the app, including:

  • Transactions, accounts, and balances.
  • Budgets, spending reports, and insights.
  • Net worth, assets, holdings, and liabilities.
  • Income, total compensation, and recurring bills.
  • Goals and cash-flow forecasts.

It cannot modify, add, or delete any of it. Every request is limited to your own data.

Security & Disconnecting

Connecting uses a standard secure sign-in, so you never share your Cadence password with the assistant, and access is scoped to read-only. Requests are rate-limited to protect your account, and the connection is logged.

To disconnect, remove the Cadence connection from your assistant’s settings. That immediately revokes its access. If you ever have concerns about a connection, disconnect it there and, if you need help, reach out from the support page.
